Admissions

How admissions work at Mendwell.

The hardest part is often the first call. Here's exactly what happens after it.

01

Reach out

Call, text, or submit the contact form. You'll reach a real admissions clinician, not a call center. The first conversation is confidential, no-cost, and typically takes 15–20 minutes. You're not committing to anything.

02

Clinical assessment

A licensed Mendwell clinician conducts a more thorough assessment, usually within 1–3 business days. We understand symptoms, history, supports, safety, and goals. In-person or secure telehealth.

03

Benefits and options

We verify your insurance benefits and explain costs in plain language. If Mendwell isn't a good clinical or financial fit, we'll say so and help connect you with options that are.

04

Begin care

If PHP or IOP is the right step, most patients start within 3–7 days of the first call. You'll know your treatment plan, schedule, and clinical team before you walk in.

Common worries — answered honestly

"Do I really need this level of care?"

That's exactly what the assessment is for. It is fine to call and find out that weekly therapy is enough.

"Will I have to pause my life?"

IOP is built around work and school. PHP is more involved but time-limited — usually 2–4 weeks.

"Will insurance cover this?"

Often yes, depending on your plan and medical necessity. We help verify benefits before you commit.

"What if my family member doesn't want to come in?"

You can call on their behalf. We work with families on next steps.

"What if it's not the right fit?"

Then it's not the right fit. We'd rather refer you well than admit you wrong.

Frequently asked

Admissions FAQ

A mental health assessment at Mendwell is a structured conversation with a licensed clinician — usually 60–90 minutes — covering current symptoms, mental health history, current treatment, medications, supports, safety, and goals. The clinician then recommends a level of care: weekly therapy, IOP, PHP, or a higher level of care if appropriate. There is no cost or commitment to be assessed.

Most patients complete an admissions call within the first business day and an assessment within 1–3 business days. PHP and IOP admissions typically begin within 3–7 days of the first call, depending on assessment results and insurance verification.

Yes. Initial calls and assessments can be done in person at our Alpharetta office or via secure telehealth, depending on what works for you. Treatment itself is typically delivered in person, with limited telehealth options for established patients when clinically appropriate.

We don't accept walk-ins for clinical assessments, but we welcome family members and patients to visit during admissions hours to ask questions in person. Calling first is the fastest way to be seen — most callers reach an admissions clinician within minutes during business hours.
